The webinar was part of the action plans under the Strong Securities Issuers
project initiated by the SEC in 2022, with the objective of enhancing good
governance of securities issuers and encourage the personnel of listed
companies to be aware of their roles and duties which are highly critical to
the Thai capital markets. Ms. Jomkwan Kongsakul, SEC Deputy Secretary-General,
gave the opening speech and Mr. Kulvech Janvatanavit, President of the Thai
Institute of Directors, gave a lecture titled “Roles, Duties and Challenges of
Directors and Executives of Listed Companies in the 21st Century.”
The SEC is implementing the plan to enhance good governance of listed companies
by revising regulations to ensure they are in alignment with current problems
and will not increase burdens on the private sector with integrity and the
private sector can still access the capital markets with flexibility. This will
also reflect that the SEC, as an agency overseeing and developing Thai capital
markets, places importance on oversight of issuance of securities and
disclosure of information on securities issuers and encourages all sectors to
realize the importance of performing their duties to strengthen sustainability
of the overall Thai capital markets.
At the webinar,
there was also a talk titled, “Sharing of Experience and Perspectives to
Enhance Good Governance for Listed Companies.” Representatives from listed
companies, namely Ms. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Chairman and Group CEO, WHA
Corporation Public Company Limited, Mr. Phongthon Tharachai, CEO, Project
Planning Services Public Company Limited, Mr. Yuth Vorachattarn, Board
Chairman, Taokaenoi Food & Marketing Public Company Limited, Ms. Phatchada
Muenthong, Company Secretary, Siam City Cement Public Company Limited, and
representatives from regulatory agencies, such as Mr. Paiboon Dumrongwaree, SEC
Assistant Secretary-General, shared their knowledge and experience regarding
