SEC and UNDP join hands with ChangeFusion, including AVPN and SE Thailand, to organize an online pitching event for social impact enterprises

Bangkok, 18 March 2021 – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), ChangeFusion, Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) including SE Thailand, organizes Impact Enterprise 20: Growing Social Impact Investment Virtual Pitching Event as a platform for social impact enterprises to pitch their businesses to interested international investors. The event is divided into two sessions; the first one was held earlier today and the second session will be held on 25 March 2021. Today’s event also featured an overview and the landscape of social impact enterprise in Thailand and presentation of fundraising channels through the capital market.

SEC Secretary-General Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol said: “Social impact enterprises are the key foundation for the social and environmental development towards sustainable growth. Nowadays, government agencies have laid out policies to promote and support enterprises whose main objective is to solve social and environmental problems through creativity and innovations. Such enterprises can also generate sustainable returns from their operation, which in turn will be used for further social and environmental development in the long run. 

The online pitching event today marked a great opportunity for Thai social impact enterprises to pitch their business models to both Thai and foreign investors. It also presented Thai social impact enterprises to become better known among foreign investors and gave impact enterprises more opportunities to raise funds through the capital market. There are 10 impact enterprises from various industries pitching their innovative business ideas. For example, eco-tourism business, waste management or value added recycling businesses, childcare and eldercare businesses, etc. Moreover, participants also received updates on social impact enterprise landscape and overview presented by a representative from Social Enterprise Thailand together with knowledge and understanding of the preparation and process for fundraising through the capital market.”
