SEC invites finfluencers to join the 2025 "Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative”, Phase 2 to cooperatively deliver investment knowledge to the public

Tuesday 20 May 2025 | No. 122 / 2025

Bangkok, 20 May 2025 – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has invited finfluencers to participate in the "Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative” 2025, Phase 2, in the category of "The Financial Changemaker", to be part of the alliance for distribution of financial and investment knowledge to the public.

The "Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative” has been undertaken consecutively for the third year as part of the Ministry of Finance's Financial Literacy Development Action Plan for the years 2022-2027. The project’s main objective is to join forces of securities and digital asset business operators (business operators), as well as associations and clubs in the financial and investment sectors, in the endeavor to provide financial and investment knowledge for the public. This year, the SEC, in considering that the finfluencers, with the ability to communicate financial and investment content in an easy-to-understand manner through diverse communication channels, reaching the target audiences extensively, has invited them to join the project in 2025 to become an alliance of the capital market for the public empowerment through financial and investment knowledge.

Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General noted, "Currently, social media has become a popular and easy-to-access channel and served as a significant source of financial and investment information. Influencers who share content in relation to personal finance and investment, or “finfluencers”, can influence the thinking and decision-making of the audiences receiving their information, particularly those finfluencers in the young generation groups, who play a crucial role in disseminating financial information to the public. If those finfluencers, who already have a proficient knowledge about these topics, also have willingness to share such quality information with the society and the public, it will be beneficial for the capital market to have supporting partners for the promotion of financial and investment knowledge through easy-to-understand communications. As such, the SEC

has added an award category to honor finfluencers for the "Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative”2025, Phase 2.”

Finfluencers interested to join the project must have the following qualifications:

1) Being an influencer who provides financial and investment knowledge and information (Finfluencer) through online channels and has viewers or followers for such online content.

2) Having 100,000 or more user accounts of online followers (all channels)

In this connection, the award eligibility criteria for the recipients in the category of “The Financial Changemaker Award” include

(1) Having created educational media on financial and investment knowledge with the content aligned with the seven content areas of Core Competencies Framework on Financial Literacy for Investors*. Such media materials should not be designed for sale or advertising of “financial or investment products or services” and should be produced in the amount of not less than 10 pieces (in any formats). The media released must have a cumulative number of reach or views of not less than 1,000,000 times during the period from January 2025 to 15 August 2025, and

(2) Having completed the SEC training course on “Responsible Voices for Finfluencer” before the award announcement day in October 2025, the date of which will be informed later. (Details of the SEC “Responsible Voices for Finfluencer” training course can be viewed at the Thai responsiblevoices).

In this regard, finfluencers who have met the criteria in (1) above but have not yet completed the “Responsible Voices for Finfluencer” training course can still apply and submit their educational media work for the SEC’s consideration throughout the project period until 15 August 2025 and notify the training course’s completion later.
