SEC organizes World Investor Week 2025 activities under the theme “Financial Well-Being Journey: Informed Decisions, Empowered Choices in the New Era of Finance”

Friday 3 October 2025 | No. 251 / 2025

Bangkok, 3 October 2025 – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is organizing a financial and investment literacy campaign for investors and the general public in conjunction with World Investor Week 2025 (WIW 2025) under the theme "Financial Well-Being Journey: Informed Decisions, Empowered Choices in the New Era of Finance." The campaign has also received cooperation from 25 capital market business operators participating in the "Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative," to deliver financial and investment educational materials throughout the week.

For this year's activities, the SEC is serving financial and investment knowledge to investors and the public through online channels for seven days on seven topics, including: investment fraud and scams, financial health check-ups, financial planning and debt management, capital market investment products, foreign investment products, investment and tax planning, and retirement planning. The content can be followed on Facebook: Start-To-Invest and TikTok: ThaiSEC_Official starting from October 6, 2025, which marks Thailand's Investor Education Week and aligns with World Investor Week 2025 initiated by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General, said: “Thailand’s World Investor Week activities are held from October 6 – 12, 2025, under the theme “Financial Well-Being Journey: Informed Decisions, Empowered Choices in the New Era of Finance.” This year, the IOSCO emphasizes the threat of Relationship Investment Scams, with estimated global damages reaching up to 75 billion US dollars, or approximately 2.43 trillion baht. Thailand has also experienced concerning levels of damage from investment scams. The SEC is therefore committed to promoting financial investment literacy among Thai people, helping them be aware of scams, and enabling them to protect themselves for stable and sustainable financial well-being throughout all life stages.”

Additionally, the SEC has created a knowledge hub for World Investor Week activities on the website www.smarttoinvest.com, which compiles past activities as well as future events to provide convenient access to information for investors and the Thai public. At the same time, it also helps promote Thailand's financial education activities, making them more widely recognized both domestically and internationally.

This year, the SEC has received cooperation from 25 business operators participating in the “Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative,” to provide financial and investment educational content that the public should know, throughout the week.

The IOSCO initiated World Investor Week in 2017, supporting capital market regulators worldwide in organizing campaigns to promote investor education and protection, creating awareness about finance and investment among investors globally. This activity aligns with the SEC's goal of ensuring Thai people have good financial health, with age-appropriate and group-specific investor education, as well as promoting investors to become smart investors who understand risks, know their rights, avoid investment scams, and are familiar with tools for verification before making investment decisions to build investment confidence. The SEC has participated in this activity for the 9th consecutive year since 2017.
