Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General, joined the 42nd ACMF Chairs’ Meeting hosted by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) on 13 February 2025. The forum has endorsed the Strategic Thrusts and a set of Key Principles for the upcoming ACMF 5-year Action Plan 2026-2030, which had gone through the workshops for discussions on mutual goals and comprehensive feedback and perspectives from member jurisdiction’s capital market stakeholders.
The Meeting also took note of the updates in relation to the forum’s key issues, i.e., (1) development of the ASEAN Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance, Version 3, (2) progress of the Asia Green Transformation Consortium (Asia GX Consortium) initiatives, (3) study on development of Voluntary Carbon Markets, (4) technical assistance collaboration for development of a Mitigation, Adaptation, Resilience and Sustainable Finance (MARS) Framework to support the region’s climate adaptation finance measures, (5) ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Assessment, and (6) adoption of sustainability-related disclosures according to the International Sustainability Standards Boards (ISSB Standards) in each member jurisdiction’s context.
As Chair of the working groups on Digital Asset Oversight Network and Collective Investment Schemes (CIS), the SEC Thailand shared Thailand’s recent developments and regulatory updates on digital asset supervision, and subsequently presented updates on activities related to the streamlined cross-border offering of CIS under the ASEAN Framework with ACMF members.
The Meeting also discussed policy directions for further developments under the ACMF Action Plan 2026-2030 that would bring about sustainability transitions of the regional capital markets and attractiveness of ASEAN capital markets in the international arena. The SEC Thailand remains committed to continuously working with the ACMF in an effort to drive for enhanced, internationally-accepted potentiality and competitiveness of ASEAN capital markets.
