“SEC Check First”, an application for pre-investment verification expands its accessibility through “Cyber Check” application

Thursday 3 April 2025 | No. 75 / 2025

Bangkok, 3 April 2025 - The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has expanded accessibility to the “SEC Check First”, a pre-investment verification tool which allows investors to check the list of licensed or approved persons or business operators under the SEC supervision in the capital market as well as digital asset market. Starting today, additional access channel is available through the “Cyber Check” application of the CCIB.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in partnership with the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), has added an accessibility channel for the "SEC Check First" application through the CCIB's "Cyber Check" application. "SEC Check First" is a tool that allows the public or investors to verify preliminary information by themselves before making investment decisions, when invited to invest.

This additional accessibility channel also enables Cyber Check application users to conveniently use the SEC Check First application, on a continuous basis, for their search of business operators under the SEC supervision or investment products on the approved list, whether it be securities or digital assets.

Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General stated, “The SEC Check First application is one of the tools that helps protect the public and investors from investment frauds and prevents them from falling victim to fraudsters. The SEC is delighted with this collaboration and would like to thank the CCIB for allowing the public to access our SEC Check First tool through the Cyber Check application. This will be another important measure to reduce the risks associated with investment scams in line with the SEC's Strategic Plan for 2025-2027 that aims to elevate the status of SEC Anti-investment Scam Center for capital market and digital asset market.”

“Cyber Check” is an application that helps screen phone numbers automatically and verify bank account numbers, LINE accounts, URLs, Facebook pages, TikTok accounts, and SMS messages, the identities of which have been verified with the CCIB. It also includes the information about legal proceedings that has been reported to the Royal Thai Police. To provide useful information for the public and investors, the information displayed on the application is divided into three categories, i.e., red indicates a history of legal action, yellow indicates a complaint is involved, and green indicates that the identity is already verified.

The easy-to-use "SEC Check First" application, which received in 2022 the Public Sector Excellence Award, Good Level, in the category of “Innovation in Public Services”, can be downloaded for convenient use on smartphones running on iOS and Android, or accessed via the SEC website at https://market.sec.or.th/LicenseCheck/Search. Simply search for the names of individuals, juristic persons, or products, the results will identify instantly if such persons or products are licensed or approved.
