SEC reveals results of public response to educational media on the "Lifelong Investing: Investology for the 50+" campaign, attracting 2.4 million views on social media channel

Thursday 17 April 2025 | No. 92 / 2025

Bangkok, 17 April 2025 – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has revealed the accomplishments of the "Lifelong Investing: Investology for the 50+" project, which is a collaboration with the "Manoottangwai (people of different ages)" Facebook page to distribute financial and investment knowledge content to the people approaching and reaching retirement ages. The information provided aims to support management of their final lump sum money to be sufficient for lifelong living as well as to strengthen their immunity from frauds and scams. The SEC has also encouraged the target groups to view the related financial and investment knowledge materials via the "Start-to-Invest" and "Manoottangwai" Facebook pages.

The SEC launched the financial and investment education project, "Lifelong Investing: Investology for the 50+”, for those approaching and reaching retirement ages, to promote financial and investment knowledge, enabling sufficient and sustainable financial stability for and in their retirement. This project, a collaboration between the SEC and “Manoottangwai,” produced educational media in the forms of one short video clip, three articles, and four podcast episodes. The media was released in November 2024 and has received over 2.4 million views. In addition to the educational media, the SEC and “Manoottangwai” also organized a financial and investment 101 workshop specifically for those 50+ years old on 18 January 2025, with over 100 participants.

Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General said, “Thailand has fully transitioned into an aged society, with a significant proportion of elderly population and increasing life expectancy. As such, the Thai people must be prepared to take care of themselves and plan for financial adequacy until the end of their lives. The SEC, therefore, gives priority to promoting financial and investment knowledge among those approaching or reaching retirement ages, enabling them to appropriately plan their personal finances for post-retirement, thus reducing reliance on their children and grandchildren. Accurate financial and investment knowledge from reliable sources can be used as a guideline for growing the existing savings and safeguarding the last lump sum money from investment frauds and scams.

In 2025, the SEC is moving forward with the plan to provide financial and investment education to these senior groups, with a more in-depth and practical knowledge in response to the life goals of people aged 50 and over.”
