Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC
Secretary-General,
said: “The World Investor Week 2026 activities organized by the SEC this year are
aligned with IOSCO’s guidelines, which focus on the three primary themes: Investor
Resilience, Digital Deception, and Scam Alert. The initiative aims to promote
investor resilience by enabling investors to make investment decisions based on
information and facts, critically assess investment-related information
encountered online, and avoid falling victim to investment scams in the digital
environment.”
The
WIW 2026 activities will be held online during 5–11 October 2026. The public
and interested persons can follow the activities via Facebook: Start-To-Invest,
under the theme “Invest Right, Future Bright.” The initiative aims to encourage
the public to build a sound foundation in finance and investment, assess their
own risk tolerance, maintain discipline in long-term investment, recognize
behavioral biases that may affect investment decisions, and use reliable tools
or channels to verify information before investing. These efforts are intended
to help the public become Smart Investors who understand risks, know their
rights, and do not fall victim to investment scams, in line with the SEC’s goal
of promoting financial well-being among Thai people through long-term
investment.
Throughout
the week, the public will have access to educational materials and activities
from the SEC and capital market business operators, covering investment
fundamentals, investor resilience, awareness of behavioral biases in
investment, and protection against investment scams in the digital era. In
addition, a special podcast in collaboration with the Cyber Crime Investigation
Bureau will share approaches to dealing with emerging forms of investment
scams.
In
addition, the SEC will hold an award presentation ceremony for the “Public
Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative,” Phase 2, 2026, during
WIW 2026. Interested persons can follow the event on 9 October 2026, from 1:00
p.m. to 4:00 p.m., via Facebook: Start-To-Invest. The ceremony aims to
recognize organizations and individuals that have played a role in promoting
financial and investment literacy among the public, as part of the SEC’s
mission to protect investors and enhance the public’s financial and investment knowledge,
thereby strengthening the foundation of the Thai capital market for long-term
stability and sustainability.
