SEC announces the list of business participants in the Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative in Q4/2023

Bangkok, 10 January 2024The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the progress of the Public Empowerment through Capital Market Knowledge Initiative, which unites efforts of business operators in the capital market in enhancing financial literacy and investment skills for investors and the public. Since the launch last year, more than 30 companies have participated in the Initiative.

The Initiative is part of the Financial Literacy Development Action Plan for the years 2022-2027 under the Ministry of Finance. The SEC has invited securities companies and digital asset business operators to participate in the Initiative since July 2023. Currently, there are more than 30 corporate participants, including seven companies signing up for the first time in the third quarter of 2023. 

In the fourth quarter of 2023, there were 21 participants given recognition and awarded certificates for their contribution to the promotion of financial knowledge and investment skills of investors and the public. They are:

          2) Krungthai Xspring Securities Co., Ltd.
          3) Krungthai-axa Life Insurance Public Co., Ltd.
          4) Krungsri Securities Public Co., Ltd.
          5) Krungsri Asset Management Co., Ltd.
          6) Krungsri Capital Securities Public Co., Ltd.
          7) Kasikorn Securities Public Co., Ltd.
          8) Kasikorn Asset Management Co., Ltd.
          9) Jitta Wealth Asset Management Co., Ltd.
          10) Gmo Z.com Cryptonomics Thailand Co., Ltd.
          11) Cgs-cimb Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
          12) Bualuang Securities Public Co., Ltd.
          13) BBL Asset Management Co., Ltd.
          14) Principal Asset Management Co., Ltd.
          15) Finnomena Mutual Fund Brokerage Securities Co., Ltd.
          16) Robowealth Mutual Fund Brokerage Securities Co., Ltd.
          17) Liberator Securities Co., Ltd.
          18) Stashaway Asset Management (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
          19) Aberdeen Asset Management (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
          20) Allianz Ayudhya Assurance Public Co., Ltd.
          21) Government Savings Bank

Additionally, there were three participating companies which received a back-to-back recognition and certificates from the SEC in the third and fourth quarters in 2023, namely 1) Gmo-z Com Securities (Thailand) Public Co., Ltd., 2) Muang Thai Life Assurance Public Co., Ltd., and 3) Wealth Magik Securities Co., Ltd.

We would like to thank the 24 participants sincerely for recognizing the power of knowledge and sharing their financial and investment knowledge and skills for the public to apply in building a good quality of life. The Thai capital market stands ready as an accessible platform for people of all ages to achieve their goals. We invite interested businesses to join us as we continue our activities under this Initiative throughout the first quarter of this year,” said SEC Secretary-General Pornanong Budsaratragoon.

The knowledge-building activities conducted by participating businesses, as submitted in their activity reports to the SEC, are a means of imparting financial and investment knowledge to the public apart from the businesses’ normal operations. Such activities were conducted in various formats, including production and dissemination of financial and investment knowledge materials on social media, establishment of learning centers, financial and investment skills competitions for youth and students, financial planning for retirement programs, and volunteer training programs on community financial education, etc. Since the launch of the Initiative in 2023, the knowledge-sharing activities have reached a diverse range of target groups nationwide, accounting for over 3 million persons.

The first phase of the Initiative will run until 31 March 2024 and the list of business participants in the following quarter will be announced on the same day. Interested businesses are welcome to join the Initiative and submit their financial literacy activity reports to the SEC now until 31 March 2024 via email: smarttoinvest@sec.or.th.
