Bangkok, 23 April 2024 – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seeking public comments on draft regulations regarding the addition of types of knowledge and experience within the Board of Governors of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) to ensure that the SET Board has knowledge and experience in line with the strategic and business necessities of the SET Board and the changing contexts of the capital market.

From 13 February to 14 March 2024, the SEC ran a public hearing on the proposed revision to the principles for adding types of knowledge and experience of the SET Board, and the proposed flexibility for the SEC Board to add types of knowledge or experience required on candidates to  be selected and appointed as members of the SET Board, as deemed appropriate to the current situation.

The SEC Board has taken the respondents’ comments and suggestions into consideration to enhance clarity and appropriateness of the aforesaid principles. In this regard, relevant regulations have been drafted and are now open for public comments. The key points of the draft regulations are as follows:

2)  To increase the flexibility for the SEC Board to add more types of knowledge or experience required on candidates to be selected and appointed to the SET Board, as deemed appropriate to the current situation.
