SEC designates an additional special holiday for securities companies and derivatives business operators

Tuesday 16 June 2026 | No. 127 / 2026

Bangkok, 16 June 2026 – The Cabinet, at its meeting on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, resolved to add one special public holiday in Bangkok on Friday, 16 October 2026, and to require government agencies in Bangkok to work from home for three days, namely Monday, 12 October 2026, Wednesday, 14 October 2026, and Thursday, 15 October 2026, to facilitate transportation and security arrangements for the finance ministers and central bank governors of member countries attending the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.

Having considered the matter, the SEC has designated Friday, 16 October 2026, as an additional special holiday for securities companies and derivatives business operators to support the orderly organization of the meetings and avoid any impact on investors’ financial transactions, securities trading, and derivatives trading on that day, given that the trading and clearing and settlement systems are interconnected across Bangkok and other provinces.

The SEC also requests the cooperation of securities companies and derivatives business operators in considering work-from-home arrangements for business operators in Bangkok on the three specified dates, namely Monday, 12 October 2026, Wednesday, 14 October 2026, and Thursday, 15 October 2026, in line with the Cabinet’s resolution mentioned above.
