To enable interested parties across sectors to make practical use of the data for further development, the SEC has developed an E-Learning course on the use of open data from the SEC Open Data Services platfrom. The course is designed to help users understand how to use the data, link the data to relevant business contexts, and apply it to analytical work, research, innovation development, and new financial services. It also supports the disclosure of data in easy-to-read, ready-to-use formats, enabling investors and stakeholders to make decisions based on quality data and contributing to the advancement of Thailand’s capital market in line with the digital era.”

The E-Learning course “SEC Open Data Services: Unlocking the potential of Thai capital market data” is available free of charge through the SEC E-Learning system. The course is intended to help learners understand how to use the SEC Open Data Services platform, which serves as a central platform for compiling and disclosing key data received by the SEC in the areas of finance, investment, regulatory oversight, and Thailand’s capital market. The platform is available to the public, organizations, and developers, providing transparent, accurate and convenient access to data. It supports various forms of use, including data visualization, downloading data in PNG, CSV, and Excel formats, and connecting to the SEC Open API. Since its launch in 2022, the SEC Open API has recorded more than 1.4 billion data requests.

The E-Learning course “SEC Open Data Services” is available free of charge from June 2026 onward. The course takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes to complete and covers content from the beginner level to analytical and technical use of data, with a focus on learning through case studies and hands-on demonstrations across five modules as follows:

          Module 1: Getting started with SEC Open Data Services – Learn how to search for basic Thai capital market data (equities, debt securities, mutual funds and digital assets), use data visualization, and download data files (PNG, CSV and Excel) for further use.

          Module 2: SEC Open API (Part 1) — Business Understanding – Develop a foundational understanding of data contexts and capital market business terms through a mutual fund case study in order to select the appropriate API endpoint accurately and effectively.

          Module 3: SEC Open API (Part 2) — Data Collection – Gain hands-on practice in setting up an account and writing programs in Python on Google Colab to independently

retrieve raw data from the SEC Open API system.

          Module 4: SEC Open API (Part 3) — Data Cleansing – Take on the role of a data analyst to learn techniques for assessing data quality, handling missing values and duplicate data, and integrating data from multiple sources into an accurate, complete, and ready-to-use dataset.

          Module 5: SEC Open API (Part 4) — EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) – Analyze Thai mutual fund data and identify insights by visualizing numerical data through Matplotlib, Seaborn and Plotly in the form of interactive dashboards to support effective decision-making.

Learners who complete all lessons will gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in using capital market data, which can be applied to work, research or the creation of financial innovation to help advance Thailand’s capital market.
