The discussion focused on law enforcement actions under an integrated cooperation framework for linking financial information and tracing suspicious financial transactions. To date, the two agencies have coordinated closely, periodically monitored progress, and continuously used the information obtained to advance their joint efforts, with a view to expediting their respective law enforcement processes and achieving tangible results.
Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General, said, “Achieving tangible results in law enforcement requires coordinated efforts among agencies in the justice system. The SEC and the ECD have therefore closely integrated their operations within the scope of their respective statutory powers and duties to ensure that legal action in cases involving wrongdoing relating to listed companies proceeds continuously and yields tangible results. The SEC remains committed to taking all necessary measures to strictly enforce the law and integrate its efforts with relevant agencies to ensure that financial fraud can be prevented, deterred, and addressed and that the public’s assets are protected from the threat posed by economic crime.”
Pol. Lt. Gen. Natthasak Chaowanasai, CIB Commissioner, assigned Pol. Maj. Gen. Sophon Saraphat and Pol. Maj. Gen. Montri Thetkhan, CIB Deputy Commissioners, in their capacity as chief investigating officers, to participate in the discussion. The CIB Deputy Commissioners said, “The integration of operations with the SEC helps enhance the continuity and efficiency of the exercise of powers and performance of duties by investigating officers in capital market-related matters. The CIB stands ready to work closely with the SEC and gives priority to integrated inter-agency cooperation in exchanging and linking transaction information and information on suspicious activity. Such cooperation will enhance the efficiency of investigations and the tracing of financial trails and enable investigations into criminal networks to be expanded promptly and with tangible results.”
The SEC and the CIB will continue to jointly monitor the progress of their operations and keep the public informed of further developments.
