SEC-TLCA-maiA to promote financial literacy for youth through ?Territorial Defense Leadership Academy? project

Bangkok, September 25, 2014 ? The SEC, the Thai Listed Companies Association (TLCA) and mai Listed Companies Association (maiA) co-support the Territorial Defense Command?s ?Territorial Defense Leadership Academy? project with a view to fostering new generation? leadership, business and financial literacy and morality. 

The SEC, jointly with TLCA and maiA, will support the ?Territorial Defense Leadership Academy? project of the Territorial Defense Command by help developing its curriculum to include personal financial management, business conduct and living concept, in addition to leadership, morality and ethics, which will be useful for the fourth and fifth-year reserve officer training cops students to live their lives and do their work in the future. The SEC officials will give lectures on financial planning and saving while listed company executives will share their knowledge and experience as well as provide opportunities for study programs and internships.

Lt.Gen. Yosanant Raicharoen, Commanding General Territorial Defense Command said the support from capital market sector in improving our curriculum is deemed as another milestone in the field of reserve officer training cops student academic development. This will help enhance quality of our new generation so as for them to be ready and skillful on top of sound body and mind; thereby maintaining military stability and improving quality of our population in the society. The collaboration today will certainly attract more students to join our fourth and fifth-year program.?

Vorapol Socatiyanurak, SEC Secretary-General said the SEC, in cooperation with TLCA and maiA, proposed recommendation to the Territorial Defense Command on curriculum development in order to prepare our next generation?s readiness for better quality working environment. We view that good personal finance skills along with business knowledge and ethics will enable them to have independent and successful living as well as creating strong foundation of the country ' s workforce. In addition, the social contribution by private sector support will eventually produce more quality people for our labor market and thus generating greater benefits to our country.?

Sumeth Lersumitrkul, maiA ' s President and TLCA Board Member said this project will not only attract more teenagers to join the Territorial Defense Leadership Academy, but also enlighten them about value of leadership. All listed companies foresee the importance and willingly participate in the project. We are pleased to provide opportunity for reserve officer students to gain knowledge and experience directly from our top executives including study tours and company visits so as to motivate them to work with us in the future or even look for their own business opportunities.?
