Bangkok, Tuesday 31 March 2020 - SEC has approved the establishment of 18 “Super Savings Funds (SSF) listed securities” by 14 asset management companies, to be offered for sale from 1 April 2020, as part of the relief package to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 and strengthen investor confidence in the capital market in accordance with the cabinet resolutions.
At the meeting on 10 March 2020, the cabinet approved a raft of measures, including allowing
investors to receive an additional tax privilege for purchasing investment units
in the Super Savings Fund (SSF) which has the policy on investing in listed securities
on the local exchanges, called “SSF listed securities”, under the following
conditions:
(1) Not less than 65% of net asset values are invested in listed securities
on the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Market for Alternative Investment
(MAI);
(2)
Investors are permitted to deduct an actual
investment amount, but not exceed 200,000 baht, from annual assessable income
as an additional personal income tax allowance However, it is separated from
the tax allowance for investing in Super Savings Fund regular, and not subject
to the ceiling of the tax-deductible amount applied to retirement-related funds;
(3)
Purchases must be made between 1 April 2020 and
30 June 2020;
(4)
Investment units are held for not less than 10
years.
SEC Secretary-General Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol said that as of 31 March 2020, SEC
has approved a total of 18 SSFs listed securities by 14 asset management
companies*.
SSFs listed securities units are available for
sale from 1 April 2020. Investors are advised to contact asset management
companies for more information.
