SEC joins “Singapore FinTech Festival 2020” seminar and exhibition in digital format for the first time

Bangkok, 4 December 2020 - SEC joins a “Singapore FinTech Festival 2020” seminar (SFF 2020) via online activity platform (Online City), available 24 hours for 5 consecutive days during 7 - 11 December 2020, to promote the use of digital technology to increase competitiveness and promote connectivity of Thai capital market to international stage in alignment with SEC’s strategic plan.

Ms. Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, Secretary-General of SEC said: “SFF 2020 organizes by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and is considered as a global FinTech exhibition. SEC firstly joined and displayed exhibition booth at SSF in year 2019 which people around 60,000, both government and private sector, from 140 countries participated. Last year we demonstrated the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT) to develop Infrastructure for Thai capital market and our booth received well feedbacks from numerous participants. We decides to join SSF again this year to raise public awareness regarding SEC’s missions, regulations, and things we done, especially our plan to use digital technology to enhance development of the organization and capital market which is aligned with Thai capital market development plan, financial technology development and trending changes of customers’ behavior.”  

SFF 2020 was held for the fifth time. It organizes under People and Talent concept which focusing on the ability of human resources in financial and technology sectors to drive the innovations and bring back healthy society in year 2021 after COVID-19 pandemic. In this year event, participants will experience discussion among panelists who have physical engagement at United Kingdom, United States of America and Singapore, and participants can visit the exhibition booths using online digital platform called “Online City” which available 24 hours for 5 consecutive days. The online exhibition booths consist of (1) Digital Showcase, (2) Global Summit, (3) Business Matching and (4) 1-on-1 Consultation Clinic.  

This year, SEC presents a “digital showcase” online exhibition and creates digital media to widen public knowledge on the use of technology in Thai capital market, such as the progress of infrastructure development to support digital transactions in securities, and new fundraising channel through crowdfunding, etc. We believe that our involvement in this event will give Thai capital market more opportunities to connect with foreign countries in both regional and global aspects. In addition, SEC invites two companies, one SMEs and one Startups, each nominated by The Federation of Thai SME and Thai Venture Capital Association, respectively, to display online exhibition booths with SEC. The first company, Advance Web Service Public Company Limited operates in E-Commerce and IT Solution business and is in the process of preparing for listing on SME Board in year 2021. While the second company, WISESIGHT (Thailand) Company Limited operates in social-media information analysis business using artificial intelligence (AI).
