SEC Thailand and CSRC discuss issues on enhancing cross-border cooperation

Bangkok, 5 October 2021 – The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC Thailand), led by Secretary-General Ms. Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, Deputy Secretary-General Mrs. Sirivipa Supantanet, Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Sakkarin Ruamrangsri and executives, held a virtual meeting with the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), led by Vice Chairman Mr. Fang Xinghai and executives, to discuss further cooperation between the capital markets of the People's Republic of China and Thailand, on 28 September 2021.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the importance of enhancing cooperation between CSRC and SEC Thailand based on MoU signed in 2007, in response to global and regional challenges, and exchanged views on feasible ways to promote cross-border investment between the capital markets of both countries.

In addition, the meeting agreed to look into the possibility of enhancing cross-border investment between both capital markets. Both parties also discussed and exchanged regulatory views on the developments and challenges related to supervision of innovative finance and digital assets in capital market as well as SMEs’ and startups’ capital market access to funding sources. The regulators came to a mutual decision to further explore ways for development and implementation of connectivity initiatives between both capital markets. On this occasion, CSRC and SEC Thailand agreed to cultivate greater cooperation for capital market development of both countries.
