The
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in collaboration with the UN Women
and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), organized the Ring the Bell for Gender
Equality Initiative 2024 to highlight the commitment of the Thai capital market
sector and partner organizations to promoting gender equality and the roles of
women. This event took place on 11 March 2024, at Sukri Kaocharern Hall, the SET Building.
During
the event, Dr. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General, highlighted the
SEC's role in fostering a sustainable environment within the capital market
that benefits all sectors. This initiative encouraged listed companies to integrate human rights and gender
equality into their business practices as part of the compliance with the ESG
principles throughout their value chains. SEC Secretary-General also reaffirmed
the SEC’s commitment by "ringing the bell for equality” together with (1) Dr. Angela Macdonald, the Australian Ambassador to Thailand,
(2) Ms. Katja Freiwald, Regional Lead, WEE & Migration, the UN Women
Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, (3) Ms. Pataravasee Suvarnsorn, SET
Senior Executive Vice President, Head of Operation Management Division, (4) Dr.
Thanyaporn Krichtitayawuth, Executive Director, the UN Global Compact Network
Thailand (UNGCNT), and (5) Ms. Yuan Xu, IFC’s Country Manager for Thailand and
Myanmar.
