Ms. Sarica Apiwatthakakul, SEC Director of Capital Market Education, represented the SEC in receiving the Partner Agency Award for supporting the research project “Collaborative Integration to Combat Cybercrime: Guidelines for Freezing and Suspending Suspected Accounts (Mule Accounts)” from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) on 15 January 2026 in Bangkok.
The research project aims to develop policy recommendations for freezing and suspending suspected mule accounts, integrate a centralized database, and establish mechanisms for alerting, monitoring, follow up, and public education. The project has also developed a digital platform that enables the public to check suspected accounts, file reports, flag risks, and access guidance and alerts. These efforts enhance cybercrime prevention, reduce losses from online fraud, and strengthen long term public confidence.
