Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, Secretary‑General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand (SEC Thailand), participated in the 44th ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) Chairs’ Meeting. The meeting was convened to set the strategic direction and advance cooperation under the ACMF Action Plan 2026–2030. The Chairs endorsed the work plans and budgets of key working groups to further strengthen and enhance connectivity of ASEAN capital markets across various dimensions, including sustainable finance, regulatory and enforcement cooperation, financial literacy, and the promotion of ASEAN capital markets on the international stage.
At the meeting, the SEC Thailand also jointly presented the work plans in the capacity as co‑chair, together with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), for two key working groups: (1) Connectivity Working Group (CWG), which includes initiatives: the development of ASEAN Indices, the implementation of the ASEAN Diamonds initiative to identify high‑potential listed companies in the region, and the promotion of intra‑ASEAN cross‑border investment through instruments such as depositary receipts (DRs), cross‑listing, and exchange‑traded funds (ETFs), with a view to making cross‑border investment within ASEAN more accessible, efficient, and liquid; and (2) Digital Working Group, covering the formulation of guidelines for tokenized investment products, the promotion of the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), and the advancement of SupTech and RegTech to enhance regulatory effectiveness and efficiency.
In addition, the meeting emphasized regulatory and enforcement cooperation through the establishment of an information‑sharing network among ASEAN capital market regulators, and endorsement of the work plan of the Islamic Finance Working Group to support the development and connectivity of Shariah‑compliant capital markets in the region.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of ASEAN member states to advancing capital markets that are modern, resilient, and capable of adapting to technological developments and global economic changes. The SEC Thailand remains committed to playing an active role in driving such cooperation on an ongoing basis. The meeting was held on 26 March 2026 in Boracay Island, Aklan, the Philippines.
