SEC and SET strengthen Thai capital market resilience against cyber threats in the quantum era

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in collaboration with the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), organized an online seminar titled “IT VISION 2026: Q-Day Is Coming: Are Thai Capital Markets Ready for the Quantum Revolution?” for executives and staff of listed companies on the SET, the Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX), the Market for Alternative Investment (mai), and the LiVE Exchange (LiVEx). The seminar aimed to enhance the preparedness of Thailand’s capital market in addressing cybersecurity threats in the quantum era, strengthen regulatory approaches, improve risk and business impact assessment, and build understanding of quantum technology and relevant case studies, contributing to enhanced regulatory oversight and technology risk management.

The opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Anek Yooyuen, SEC Deputy Secretary-General, together with Mr. Thirapun Sanpakit, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the SET. The seminar was attended by 662 participants and was held on 20 May 2026.

The seminar featured three sessions:

1. “Cybersecurity Governance in the Quantum Era: Executive Priorities and Regulatory Expectations,” delivered by AVM Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary-General of the National Cyber Security Committee;

2. “From Risk to Resilience: Quantum Cyber Risk and Capital Market Business Impact,” delivered by Ms. Chonlatorn Chunhavikasit, Consulting Director, PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting (Thailand) Ltd.; and

3. “Trust Today, Broken Tomorrow: Quantum Risks and Thailand’s Capital Market,” delivered by Mr. Nontawatt Saraman, Committee of the Digital Council of Thailand.
