The
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) hosted its annual cybersecurity
seminar for board directors in the capital market under the theme “Board Cyber
Forum 2026: Governing Cyber Resilience in the AI & Quantum Era.” The event
aimed to enhance board directors’ understanding of risks arising from
artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies, as well as their roles
in corporate oversight, risk management,
and policy-setting in relation to cybersecurity and AI governance.
At the
seminar, Prof. Dr. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General, delivered a
keynote address and shared her perspectives with board directors. The event
brought together 150 participants from 136 organizations, including board
directors, senior executives, and representatives of associations and related
organizations. It was held at Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok, on 25 August 2026.
In her
remarks, Prof. Dr. Pornanong emphasized that business sustainability is
measured not by an organization’s size or by how extensively it adopts
technology and AI, but by the trust and confidence of stakeholders who are
assured that the organization can appropriately manage both the opportunities
and risks arising from technology. She further noted that cybersecurity is no
longer solely the responsibility of the information technology function but has
become a strategic responsibility under the principles of cyber governance. Accordingly,
effective cyber governance requires careful judgment and wisdom, drawing on human
intelligence to address the challenges posed by AI.
