Mrs. Pornanong
Budsaratragoon, Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC), attended the 2nd Meeting of the Financial Data Connectivity
Subcommittee for Enhanced Monitoring of Suspicious Financial Transactions
(Connect the Dots) in 2026. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ekniti
Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and attended by Mr.
Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society; Pol. Gen.
Permpoon Chidchob, Advisor to the Prime Minister; Mr. Theppasu Bavornchotidara,
Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO); and
representatives from relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Justice, the
Royal Thai Police, the Bank of Thailand, the Thai Bankers’ Association, and the
Fiscal Policy Office.
The
meeting discussed approaches to enhancing the prevention and suppression of
financial crime, with the objective of connecting data and regulatory oversight
across agencies under a unified framework. During the discussion, the SEC
Secretary-General noted that the SEC has enhanced KYC, CDD, and EDD standards,
as well as risk assessment criteria, to ensure consistency across all service
providers. These measures are intended to facilitate data connectivity and
enable the suspension of transactions that are inconsistent with customer
information. She further emphasized that aligning due diligence standards
across sectors would improve the effectiveness of inter-agency data sharing and
coordination.
The
meeting was held at the 150 Years Building, Ministry of Finance, on 14
September 2026.
