The
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) delivered a lecture at the 4th workshop on spotting and tackling fake news, organized
by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Digital Economy and
Society (MDES), as part of the 2026 Anti Fake News Center
(AFNC) Project.
The
workshop aimed to raise awareness of the risks and impacts of fake news and
online scams, while equipping participants with tools to protect themselves
from scammers. It also encouraged participants to take part in monitoring, sharing
alerts, and helping curb the spread of fake news in society.
The
SEC’s lecture focused on raising awareness of financial scams in the digital
world, strengthening critical thinking skills, and encouraging participants to
ask questions before believing information they receive or transferring money.
It also covered approaches to building resilience against investment scams and
the SEC’s role in protecting the public and investors from falling victim to
scammers. The workshop was held at Magic 2 Meeting Room,
Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok, on 21 September 2026.
