Prof. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, Ph.D., Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), delivered a keynote address at the Bloomberg Global Policy Series 2026: Cross-Border Capital Flows and Connectivity, highlighting the rapidly increasing interconnectedness of today’s financial system. This interconnectedness may allow the impacts of risks to spread more widely than in the past. Advancing the economy and capital market therefore requires resilience and preparedness to address risks, including the ability to maintain continuity of critical operations and build immunity by strengthening resilience from within, in order to effectively withstand and recover from impacts.
The Thai capital market is prepared to move forward under the “Empowering Growth, Building Resilience” strategy, in alignment with Thailand’s economic development based on the “Empowering People, Building Resilience” theme of the 2026 IMF-WB Annual Meeting, through three key policy areas: (1) the Thailand Individual Savings Account (TISA), which strengthens Thai society by promoting long-term investment among the public; (2) BOI to IPO, which aims to attract quality companies with strong potential to access funding and pursue growth through the capital market; and (3) tokenization, which prepares the market for future financial innovation to enhance capital market efficiency and confidence.
The SEC emphasized its goal of developing the Thai capital market to be open, globally connected, and trusted by investors over the long term by sustainably strengthening resilience from within.
The event was held on 15 October 2026.
